    Default sloppy tail problem

iv been practicing nose in with the mcpx v2 and want to try with my twister 3d storm but the sloppyness of the tail is making it impossible to get it to hold properly.

she takes off fine and seems ok-ish at first but every now and then the tail starts drifting quite fast (clock wise i think) thus needing alot of correction .

if i increase gyro i can get rid of alot of this drift but not altogether and then it suffers from massive tail wag when im in fast flight.

iv not crashed her in a long time and i keep up on cleaning / oiling/ maintanence etc .

im using a tornado fusion 35 amp ESC and a blade 450 mems gyro .

the motor is in A1 condition and the gear mesh is set correctly.

any advice appreciated as this problem is now affecting my thought on the hobby.
    thanks....

Have a look to see if the tail drive belt is tight enough but not to tight? (i think your model is belt driven) other than that i cant help.

Hi Dan ,checked the belt and it was a little slack so tightened it up and the results are just the same.its a very intermitant problem that is getting me down now as im ready to progress onto my last basic flight training (figure 8s ect) but this damn problem is preventing me doing so .

Well I’m afraid i can’t help, i haven’t had or used the equipment you’ve got. I’ve had problems like this before and they are very annoying to the point that i left the hobby for a while. The only thing i can suggest is look up setup for the gyro on youtube, it is probably something simple.

Well I hope you get it sorted, is there a shop or a club near you to get some advice??

And dont let it get you down (easier said then done i know)

How are you upping the gyro gain ? If your uping it from say 65 to 75% in one jump you could be missing your sweet spot tri smaller increases good luck

    I am here: Google Maps
im increasing/decreasing gain at 1% each time . iv even tried altering at .5 increments before with no luck. i just cant believe how a heli can develop a fault like this when its not been crashed and the previous day was running fine .

if it were a car i would have sussed it by now (or scrapped it lol).

Things do wear out and it can be very difficult to sort out. Is it connected with the cold weather? Could it be a servo? Could be the gyro mounting pad? Something loose on the tail? The tail rotor bearings can become loose in the housing and fall out...happened to me. There's the boom fit in the frame as well. Sorting out faults is part of the hobby though, unless you can afford to buy new.

thanks CJ, checked the full heli and the only thing left that i cant check is how my gyro (new blade 450 mems ) is effected by minus 1 temps.

what i really need is for someone who is alot more skilled than me to fly her and through experience might be able to pin point the problem .
