Thread: Grant's 2600w 12-24v PSU's

Hey guys,
As many of you know I'm building a batch of 30 PSU's capable of 106amps discharge on the 12 and 24v rails.
I'm most the way through the build so far and the final parts and being laser cut as we speak.

I'm goin to use this thread to update to 23 people who have pre-ordered one of these so they can see the progress and how far off completion they are.
First updates with pictures shoul be on here by friday. Feel free to post any questions on here.

Isn't this going to blow all the fuses in the house?

So far things are just about within my origional budget with just a few more parts to pay for (powder coating and copper for main power bars).
Origional price was expected to be £150-£180, but it's now looking more like £150-160.

Luckily not! A standard 13A household plug will take approximately 3100 watts. At full power these will draw less than that.

I like the idea of one person making a batch of cheap psus. Its a good idea to do these sort of projects in a standard way. I know from my own experience that problems can occur with any design, not that I expect any, but if all the psus are the same any problems can be fixed. With email it is easy to update all customers with any updates, or improvements. I'm sure that before long these psus will be too small, perhaps we'll have to wire into the cooker circuit or whatever.

Haha, I can just imagine a nuclear bunker in te garden with 12kw of lipo charging at once! I think 2600w will be ok for now LOL. Although rate to 106A supply, I have drawn 120A without blowing one up. That's 3x Hyperion duo's or PL8's at full whack

Also, just to add for anyone who may have concerns with regards to safety, I am building these into a single steel case that's fully grounded invade of any potential issues arising inside. If you have any issues I will be supplying a warrantee aslong as the unit hasn't been tampered with.

Great stuff Grant, and the price looks very good as well.

I don't have any issues about safety, if that's what you think. I am glad to see someone who knows what they are doing making something at a reasonable price.

I can't wait to get mine.

What is anticipated noise level, assuming it will have a couple of fans inside ? also will it interfere with a tv picture in the same room when running?
