yes the pack resistance is higher and would cause a higher volt drop on the circuit, the high the voltage the lower the current and the lower the volt drop.
Higher voltage is better suited to power transmission.
Keep the cables short and use the biggest connectors possible to lower the resistance.

My TDR is wired like this.... The ESC has 2 EC5's, 1 connected to the + and 1 to the -, and a link wire between the other 2 connectors to allow the 2 6s packs to connect to.

Now, I don't see a problem with the + of the first 6s being connected to a Y lead, so the + goes to the + of the ESC, the - goes to the + of a 2s, its - goes to - of the ESC link wire, that goes to the + of the second 6s pack, and finally it's - goes to the ESC

I dont know how to do a drawing to post, so I could do it on paper, photo it and post that if required.


The other thing is, the 2s pack would be the least affected by pulling high amps, because it has both cells with a side open to cooling, unlike the middle cells of a bigger pack.

My kontronics is exactly like this too. Much better, no Y-lead

Dont forget you got to mount them. Using more than 2 packs is gonna unbalance the machine unless you use an even number of packs to keep it weighted the same both sides. I would not want to mount one pack underneath as there no protection for it down there.

2 x 6s or 2 x 7s is the only logical answer imo. Lets face it no matter which way you try to do it if your struggling to buy the packs then this heli is not for you. You would not have fun flying as you would be worried about crashing it all the time.

Don't the packs mount side by side?

As to the cost I think the original idea was to save initial cost and then purchase the packs at a more conviniant time.

Not every one has £4000 to throw at a Heli in one go. But why shouldn't they buy one. I can't afford to crash at the mo but it dosnt mean I shouldn't fly my big helis.

They mount either side of a carbon plate that is bang central. Put a 6s and a 2s on one side it's off balance.


You wouldn't buy a car if you could not afford the insurance and running costs even if you can stretch yourself to buy it in the first place would you??

To plug that one pack in which turns on all the servos and vbar without arming the motor. Then plug the other in and it's ready to go.

Basically wire the neg of the bec to the neg of the esc and the pos of the bec goes to the lead that connects the pos of that pack to the neg of the other pack which in my case I just used some black wire which is what I had.

Question - how did you make the connection between ESC wire and BEC wire? Did you strip a bit of ESC wire and soldered BEC wire to it?

Yes and because they thick wire i made sure I used a quality iron and tinned them properly, don't want a cut out in mid air because the join is not good enough

Basically wire the neg of the bec to the neg of the esc and the pos of the bec goes to the lead that connects the pos of that pack to the neg of the other pack which in my case I just used some black wire which is what I had.

Very important not to use the negative of the other pack and the positive from the positive of the esc.

Am I missing something, that's how I have done it?

I run my gryphon on a 6s pack too.

Only negative is that one pack is slightly more discharged than the other.

No Ben you are not. I was just reiterating that connecting the bec to the other pack is bad.
