    Default Camera and camcorder advice.

Last week we where broken in to while out at the father in laws 71st the robbing B@stard took mycamcorder and camera ipod etc.I was lucky as they left the 450 and a tablet sitting in the
kitchen I think they saw us coming back in and legged it out the front.
Its gutting to come home and find your back door kicked in and drawers tipped all over the floor

But it looks like the insurance are going to pay out with vouchers for currys.
I have thought about getting a good camera somthing like this

CANON EOS 1100D Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm Zoom Lens

But is the video any good on this or is it still better having both camera & camcorder if so
    whats best combo.
It looks like I will have about £400 to spend.

I would just look about for reviews. Video camcorders can be a lot better than DSLR's in some respects but if you're into photography then a decent dslr is hard to beat.

as lynx has said really, you wont beat a dedicated camcorder device over a dslr.
dslr video has come a long way mind and is really brilliant at the moment recording at 1080p at either 25,30 or 50fps in the top end dslr's(60D up).

if you dont need or want a dslr then get a cheap compact (still excellent cameras) and get a hd camcorder. if not then a dslr is the way to go. my panasonic sd90 is a superb bit of kit!

its a bit poo that your insurance company has tied you down to currys though, not only are they expensive it doesnt leave you with much choice of products. no harm in asking them for a cash imbursement rather than vouchers.
