Any release date and a guide price for Sim only? I have Reflex XTR, and whilst it's good, i'd like to be able to update it easier (as it's an older version), plus there's the option of going online etc with Phoenix!

I guess phoenix will charge for this version. I think this because on previous versions the beta was released early for us to try. Not in this case

I'm hoping it will only be a small update charge if there going to charge at all. Seems a lot of programme for a free up date but you never know.

    hmm
No mention of online on that flyer.
Like the idea of moving your head changing the view, but can't see how that works without VR goggles, and must need some sort of wii or xbox style tracker system. Thats the way to make the sim more realistic though!
3D support must also need some sort of special head gear, or special screen, and of course a powerful PC!

So I am guessing this v4 pro might well be a seperate product that runs alongside v3 with v3 remaining for people without all the extra gaming hardware you'd need.

The TrackIR system works with a little camera that sits on your monitor. It has IR transmitters on it that are reflected back to itself via reflective spots. You can buy baseball caps or attachments for a headset to work with it. For the 3D.O.F systems you need a single spot and the 6D.O.F systems require 3 reflective points that describe the points of a triangle.

You use the system with a monitor as it amplifies your head movement. This is configurable in the system so you can in effect add a bit of expo around the centre of the screen. It is in fact a brilliant system when used on the right sort of games - namely flight sims. I have tried it on driving sims also but did not find it that useful tbh.

The trick to this is that it is not a 1 to 1 mapping of head movement to view change, a little left or right for example yields a much larger movement on screen.

This way you keep the monitor in view but can still get the program to show you the view over your left shoulder for example.

I'm quite happy to carry on with V3 if theres a cost. I don't give the slightest thought to being able to fly my TDR across 3D landscapes out of my sight, I have enough trouble keeping it close. Voice chat looks good though

Same here; the new 'features' seem a lot more suited to a flight sim than to an RC sim. I can't see anything listed that would persuade me to part with any money for an 'upgrade'.

Looks nice, but I hope they sell it without the DX5. I don't mind paying for an upgrade, but I don't want to buy another transmitter as well.

Have to agree with Waveydavey, I don't get the flying over endless 3D landscapes bit. I use my sim as a training aid not as a computer game. Maybe next time I'm out with my heli I'll have to fly it really fast and run behind it to see if I like flying over endless 3D landscapes...!

Well if I do give it a go I'll have to have a head cam so you can get the real Phoenix experience and then get my buddy to film it so you can appreciate the full affect. The only issue I can see is where we fly, depending on which way I run, I'll either have to swim a canal or cross the M1. Lol

I find the online a bit of a novelty, if its paid upgrade I will be sticking with V3 as it does all I need it to.
