    Default v3 to v4

So I took Evo Andy's advice and duplicated my v3 program folder last night so that I could download and try v4. The installation was pretty painless, other than having to logout as a user and log back in as administrator to have sufficient priveledges to complete the installation (Windows 7 Ultimate). But no biggie.

It was late so I only spent about 10 minutes playing with it once complete, and struggled to tell any difference really. Yes, there's some new fangled 3D scenery and some new visual stuff, but when it came to actually using it, hardly and difference at all. Maybe a bit smoother, sleeker, but not enough to write home about.

    Am I missing something?

Edit: Just to add - one thing that was a lot better is the Tx calibration setup. If you use a SimStick like me then v3 didn't have a default radio setup and you had to do it all manually, which is a bit of a bind. The v4 system walks you through the process and self detects the relevent channels - a big improvement.

    Nope

There isn't a massive difference. The main things are the unecessary 3d landscapes and the addition of FPV mode and chase cam.

Im sure once V4 is out of beta they will start adding little updates with new helis though.

The feel of helis I found were much more accurate, the helis have a much smoother response around centre stick, truer to real life, and no not just like expo.

Also the 3D additions are a very big coding change.

There is a massive difference!!!!!!! The helicopters feel completely different. Not being funny but maybe you don't use it enough to notice. I use it for about 3 hours every night so i instantly felt the difference with the improved physics. So yes... you are missing something

    [QUOTE=BladeStriker;798093]3 hours a night,jeez...thats dedication/addiction

It is somewhere in-between both i think I absolutely love it though... flying in general... but also the sim. I struggle to put it down to be honest. I want to be the best... thats what drives me to get better and succeed. I know I'm not the best.... but it doesn't stop me wanting to be the best and during that process I'm improving day by day. I find it all very stimulating

Mine runs fine at full res on my nice big wide screen iMac.

3 hours a day..... I'd be lucky if I use it 3 hours a year!

A desktop is much better than a laptop ever will be, much more bang for your buck too. A lot of lower spec laptops get far too hot when running applications such as Phoenix.

Unless you find yourself having to use a laptop.

Have you tried reducing the detial levels to minimum blade striker?

I didnt notice any performance impact on my desktop... Have you got it installed in a funny place? (E.g USB hard drive or something)

Same here. Much better flight model.
3D sites have huge potential, not only for FPV, just give it time.

I didnt notice any real differences from 3-4 but I edit the models to match mine within reason.

Did anyone else find the ailerons reverse direction when switching from Heli to fixed wing models? (Dx8)
