    Default Which Gyro & Servos

    Hi there,

I have a kyosho caliber and i am wondering which gyro & servos to put on it? I was thinking about a gy401 and 9454's. Can anyone advise me if this would be suitable please?

Nothing wrong with the 401 but is a little dated now, youve not mentioned your budget but, take a look at a spartan or a gp750 ,and for the servos you could do alot worse than going the tried and tested align route with the 610,s for cyclics and 620 for the tail bud !

Those will do fine for your first heli, the 401 is a good plug and play gyro however the second hand prices are generally overinflated. You might want to look at the spartan 760 which most would agree is a better gyro and probably cheaper second hand

Yeah I would agree about the 401 being expensive compared to more 'modern' Gyro's. They will work but there are better options out there now. As has been said look for a Spartan (either Quark or 760) or even an Align GP750 (not the 780) cheap on the BMFA classified or on here once you get 50 posts. For Servo's I use Align 610's on my cyclic & a 620 on the tail & have had zero issues with either but Futaba 3152's are a good budget servo for the cyclic.

All the servos i have on it is Futiba S148's and the gyro is a GWS Piezo. Can i put a spartan or 401 gyro on it without changing the servos or am i better to change the servos as well. I am new to this.

Your better to change the servo's mate. 148's are futaba's cheapest offering & aren't that great. i did use them for a wee while on a rappy 30 but quickly changed them to 3152's which made the heli easier to fly. One thing I would say is don't scrimp on the tail, the better the gear you can put on it the easier it will be to learn with as you don't need to worry about the tail drifting etc

I have a caliber and have 3152's on cyclic and throttle with a 401 + 9254 servo on the tail.
OS32H ring and NHP razor main blades set up on CCPM. It flies as its on rails and is my favourite
helicopter. I have just coverted it to Li-Po with an ElyQ regulator. Spares are getting a bit harder
to get with Midlands being the only one I know who has any.

The caliber is far better than a shuttle, its fully ballraced and CCPM. I know a lot of people have electric sized heli's
instead of the 30 nitro's, but I have a lot of fun with it, and it goes so long on a small tank of fuel. With the 401+9254 it has
a very powerful tail which is rock steady. don't have the tail belt too tight, it should just not touch if you press a screwdriver
on one side where it comes off the pulley. Any other info you need, give me a pm.

Thanks for the info guys. Much appreciated. I have ordered the gyro and the tail servo today but the 3125's are out of stock and they are not sure when they will get more in. Do you know where i can get 4 of them?

Als hobbies have them Al's Hobbies - Search
and also Hobby stores for £16.99 in vat
you can use a 148 on the throttle to keep cost down as no governor is being used.
Or try BMFA site for second hand servo's.
